This week my amazing friend Taryn quoted to me:
“Give up the CONTROL you think you have over this.”
So, as you can tell, Taryn and I have a hilarious relationship filled with brutal honesty and a heavy dose of humour. We have permission to call each other on stuff. She is a talented Realtor in Vancouver and she has been keenly watching and helping me process the roller coaster of selling and buying my home.
This space, between selling one home and buying another is a familiar and VERY uncomfortable space. It is a LULL. what is that? When we are forced to WAIT for “divine” or RIGHT timing. In our case it is markets and ideal homes and neighbourhoods and financing….however, this space is also the space between jobs, pets, children, relationships or marriages; between careers.
Remember this page from “Oh the Places You’ll Go”. ?
I remember reading this over and over again and swearing to myself that I would be one of the people that forged ahead and didn’t waffle, or procrastinate. Leaps of Faith! that was my mantra.
What I realized in this last hurry up to wait situation, is that Leaps of Faith demand the LULLs. That “better breaks” and the “second chances” are worth waiting for, as we are EVOLVING. We are continuously learning and growing; and these Lulls between two seemingly differing and sometimes opposing choices, people, places, jobs, etc are where we REALLY learn WHO we are.
It is in this place that our Values are tested, where our support networks get clarified, where our resourcefulness gets sharpened and where our dreams can be birthed.
IN Patience, I’M Patience.
I hope you have a glorious week, and I hope you consider the beauty of the WAIT inside the agonizingly slow minutes of time passing before your next BIG THING!
